Education Committee
The Education Committee plans seminars, workshops, and monthly speakers,
and works with NALA, the Toledo Bar Association or any other organization
in the event of co-sponsorship of any programs. The Committee meets
monthly.
Newsletter
Committee
The
Newsletter Committee publishes a monthly newsletter mailed to all PANO
members and some other organizations. The committee is responsible for
communicating to PANO members information concerning such members, PANO
activities, and local, state and national news concerning issues of
interest concerning the profession. The Committee meets monthly.
Membership Committee
The
Membership Committee develops programs to encourage membership in PANO,
maintains a current data base of members and a data base of contacts for
PANO, reviews membership applications, and coordinates information on
membership. The Committee will meet on an as-needed basis to work on
special projects such as the membership drive and survey.
Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations Committee serves as a liaison between the general
public and PANO. The Committee promotes PANO and the legal assisting
profession. It serves as a source of information regarding the education,
training, regulation and function of legal assistants.
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee monitors
the annual $1,000 scholarship for Paralegal Studies students which the
University of Toledo administers. The Committee develops and maintains
scholarship criteria and documents. Application packets are distributed
to students by the Director of Paralegal Studies in October. The
scholarship is awarded in January each year.
Legal Assistant of
the Year Committee
The Legal Assistant of the Year Committee solicits nominations for the
award, reviews questionnaires, and selects the Legal Assistant of the
Year. The Committee begins its work in April or May and concludes with the
presentation of the award at PANO’s annual meeting in June.
Ways and Means Committee
The Ways and Means Committee plans and organizes fund raising projects and
activities as a source of income for PANO. The committee will meet on an
as-needed basis when working on projects.
Speaker’s Bureau
The Speaker’s Bureau is a group of PANO members who are willing to
volunteer their time to speak to students regarding the legal assisting
profession.
Statewide Committee
The Statewide Committee maintains PANO’s affiliation with other Ohio
paralegal associations and reports to PANO regarding issues arising in
Ohio.
Audit Committee
The
Audit Committee will review PANO’s financial books.
Bylaws Committee
The
Bylaws Committee coordinates changes to PANO’s Bylaws.
Nominations
Committee
The Nominations Committee coordinates the nominations of the PANO Board of
Trustees, Officers, Liaisons and Committee Chairpersons.
COMMUNITY
LIAISONS
NALA Liaison:
Monitors local and
national trends in the profession and acts as the communication link
between PANO and The National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc.
TBA Liaison:
Promotes the legal
assisting profession, acts as a source of information regarding the
education, training, regulation, and function of legal assistants, and
promotes good will among members of the Toledo Bar Association and PANO.
Student Liaison:
The Student Liaison’s
Committee promotes PANO and the legal assisting profession to the students
at the University of Toledo and other area schools for legal assistants.
The Committee develops programs to encourage student membership in PANO.
The Student Liaison serves as a source of information regarding the
education, training, regulation and function of legal assistants.
